Please come in to the Photographers House

Today we open our doors; so please come in and visit with us. And unlike most homes you have been in we do not have any private rooms that you are not allowed into. Our house is your house.

Photographers House is a home where you will get to know other photographers, through interviews, portfolios and we hope, in time, through books published by Photographers House. But just like a first time homebuyer our rooms might seem a bit sparse at first. The living room and our gallery room will see the first furnishings. But we have two other major rooms: the reading room, where we will begin to build a library of photo book reviews, and the humanitarian room. We are proud to have a room that is dedicated to humanitarian needs.

Photographers highlighted in our humanitarian room have a passion for a special need and use their skills to share the needs with others and, of course,  to help raise funds for those needs. The first photographer scheduled to visit the humanitarian room has traveled the world for an organization that builds children’s hospitals meeting both physical, emotional and spiritual needs of children and their parents. Be sure to sign up for our newsletters so you don’t miss when he comes to visit.

There is one more thing; we have a kitchen sink! This is where everything else be found. Some folks would call it a “junk drawer” in their home. Take a couple of moments to look into our sink. Don’t worry we keep it clean. This is where you can find out how to submit portfolios. If we like your portfolio we will contact you for an interview. This is also where we will be posting details about special exhibition entries and where you can contact us to share just how much you like what you see. Don’t worry we also accept disparaging remarks with open arms as long as they are constructive.

Karl Houteman

The first photographer to step into our living room is Karl Houteman and he has graciously agreed to an interview and to share some of his work with us. It is his unique style of multiple exposure photography that has grabbed our attention. We sincerely hope you will enjoy his words and work. Stay with us while we fill our rooms with some of the best photographers we could find that you may never have heard of. Many, like Karl Houteman, will stretch the boundry of what photography is as well as your own imagination.

Next up will be an interview with a photographer who has been able to capture a man with a bowler hat that keeps turning up in unusual places.
